RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo have reached a deal to sign forward Junior Santos on loan from Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.

The 27-year-old, who is contracted to the J-League side until January 31 next year, will be tied to the Rio de Janeiro outfit until December.

"Junior is already in Rio for exams and evaluations, and will train soon with his new teammates," read a statement on Botafogo's official website.

Santos was the ninth player to join Botafogo in Brazil's mid-season transfer window, which closed on Monday.

The Alvinegro, who were promoted from Serie B last year, are currently 12th in Brazil's 20-team top flight standings with 26 points from 22 matches.
