BUENOS AIRES, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Argentina registered a daily record number of vaccination against COVID-19 on Thursday, with 376,815 doses administered under the national plan, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday.
"In the first four days of this week, a total of 1,394,059 vaccines have been applied ... with a daily average of 348,515 vaccines," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the Public Vaccination Monitor, as of Friday morning 17,895,790 vaccines had been distributed, of which 15,730,223 had been applied. And 12,555,442 people had received their first dose, while 3,174,781 had received their second.
Health Minister Carla Vizzotti said during a meeting with provincial health authorities that Argentina must reduce the number of cases as vaccination progresses in order to reduce mortality and hospitalizations.
As of Thursday, the South American country had registered 4,066,156 COVID-19 cases and 83,941 deaths.
