ILOILO CITY, June 4 (PIA) - - Police Regional Office 6 Director PBGen. Rene Pamuspusan has ordered to place under restrictive custody the two police officers who were allegedly involved in the killing of businessman Delfin Britanico.

Criminal charges were already filed by the National Bureau of Investigation on May 29, 2020 against PCpl Jerry Carmelotes Villanueva and PCpl Joseph Andrew Poneles Joven.

Villanueva is now on restrictive custody at the Regional Headquarters Support Unit pending issuance of a warrant of arrest from the court while Joven went Absent Without Leave (AWOL) since March 12, 2020.

Joven has a pending admiistrative case of grave neglect of duty for failure to report for duty and less grave neglect of duty for failure to undergo mandatory drug test.

In a statement it released, PRO 6 said it is respecting the investigation conducted by the NBI and remained committed to cleanse its rank as it pursues its programs on reformation.

Likewise, PRO6 appealed to the public to report to the nearest police station any information relative to this case or on any misbehaviour committed by police officers within the region.

Pamuspusan said it saddened him to hear news like this but their reformation program must continue to ensure honest and genuine service for our countrymen.

Britanico, son of former BANAT party-list representative Salvador Britanico, was shot dead on January 19 this year in Brgy. Nabitasan, Lapaz. (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
